Chlorophyll is called the blood of green plants.

What is it?

Chlorophyll is a green pigment found in plant chloroplasts, which contains magnesium.

Its amount in green plants ranges from 1.7 to 5.0% (dry weight).

Chlorophyll participates in photosynthesis - the process of converting solar energy into chemical bonds of carbohydrates (glucose).
