Description

Composition 1 ml contains: Active ingredient: oxymetazoline hydrochloride 0.1 mg

Pharmacological action Nazivin - alpha-adrenomimetic, vasoconstrictor

Pharmacodynamics Being a derivative of imidazoline, at low concentrations it mainly has О±2-adrenomimetic effect, at high concentrations it also acts on О±1-adrenergic receptors

It narrows the vessels at the site of application, reduces swelling of the nasal mucosa and upper respiratory tract.

With local nasal application in therapeutic concentrations, it does not irritate the mucous membrane, does not cause hyperemia

Studies of radiolabeled oxymetazoline have shown that this nasal rhinological agent does not have a systemic effect.

Indications acute respiratory diseases with symptoms of rhinitis

acute allergic rhinitis

exacerbation of vasomotor rhinitis

Side effects Sometimes - burning or dryness of the nasal mucosa, sneezing

very rarely - anxiety, insomnia, fatigue, headache, nausea

Repeated overdose with local nasal use sometimes leads to such systemic sympathomimetic effects as increased heart rate (tachycardia) and increased blood pressure

How to take, course of administration and dosage Adults and children over 6 years old - 1-2 drops in each nasal passage 2-3 times a day 0.05% solution

children: infants up to 4 weeks - 1 drop of 0.01% solution 2-3 times a day, from the 5th week of life and up to 1 year - 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day, from 1 year to 6 years - 1-2 drops 2-3 times a day 0.025% solution

To ensure the accuracy of dosing, the bottle of Nazivin 0.01% nasal drops has a graduated pipette with marks of the number of drops

The effectiveness of the following procedure has also been proven: depending on age, 1-2 drops of a 0.01% solution are applied to cotton wool and wiped the nasal passages

Overdose Symptoms (after a significant overdose or accidental ingestion): pupillary constriction, nausea, vomiting, cyanosis, fever, tachycardia, arrhythmia, vascular insufficiency, arterial hypertension, respiratory distress, pulmonary edema, cardiac arrest

in addition, mental disorders may appear, as well as depression of the central nervous system, accompanied by drowsiness, a decrease in body temperature, bradycardia, arterial hypotension, respiratory arrest and the possible development of coma

Special instructions Prolonged use of nasal decongestants may weaken their effect.

Abuse of these agents can cause mucosal atrophy and reactive hyperemia with rhinitis medicamentosa, as well as damage to the mucous epithelium and inhibition of epithelial activity.
