Description

pharmachologic effect

The main active ingredient of the preparation is the shell of Indian plantain seeds containing hydrophilic fibers. Additional inactive components that make up Mucofalk are: sodium alginate, citric acid, sucrose, dextrin, sodium saccharin, betacarotene, citrate and sodium chloride. Hydrophilic fibers of psyllium husk, getting into the gastrointestinal tract, absorb water and swell. Remarkable is the fact that these fibers are able to absorb such an amount of water, which is ten times their own weight. The volume of the intestinal contents increases, at the same time softening of the feces is noted. The fibers of psyllium seed shells stimulate intestinal motility, thereby facilitating the process of excretion of feces. Reviews of Mucofalk indicate that the drug is an effective laxative. The active component of the drug is not absorbed into the bloodstream from the gastrointestinal tract, but is excreted in the feces.
