Pharmacological action
Hydrocortisone - a natural glucocorticosteroid. It has anti-inflammatory, anti-allergic, antipruritic and decongestant effects. It stabilizes cell and subcellular membranes, including mast cell membranes and lysosomal membranes. It inhibits the alteration phase and reduces inflammatory cellular infiltrates, reduces the migration of leukocytes and lymphocytes to the area of inflammation. It reduces the binding of immunoglobulins to receptors on the cell surface and inhibits the synthesis or release of cytokines (interleukins and interferon) from lymphocytes and macrophages. Reduces the release of arachidonic acid from phospholipids and the synthesis of its metabolites (prostaglandins, leukotrienes, thromboxane). Reduces exudative reaction, helps reduce capillary permeability. Reduces the severity of the early immunological response. By stimulating steroid receptors, it induces the formation of lipocortins, which have decongestant activity. It has an antimetabolic effect and inhibits the development of connective tissue, collagen deposition and scarring. In therapeutic doses, it has practically no systemic effect.
Indications
- Allergic diseases of the eye (eyelid dermatitis, blepharitis, conjunctivitis and keratoconjunctivitis).
- Uveitis.
- Sympathetic ophthalmia.
- Prevention and treatment of inflammatory events after injuries and operations.
- Restoring the transparency of the cornea and suppressing neovascularization after keratitis, chemical and thermal burns (after complete epithelization of the cornea).
Contraindications
- Individual hypersensitivity to the components of the drug.
- Purulent, viral, tuberculosis and fungal diseases of the eyes.
- Primary glaucoma.
- Defects in the corneal epithelium.
- The vaccination period.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
There is no sufficient experience with the use of the drug during pregnancy, no breast-feeding. Composition
1 g of 0.5% ointment contains: hydrocortisone acetate 5.0 mg.
