Pharmacological action
Formoterol isheiler - beta-adrenergic agonist. It acts mainly on 2-adrenergic receptors. It has a bronchodilator effect, stops and prevents bronchospasm. It inhibits the release of histamine, leukotrienes and prostaglandin D2 from mast cells, basophils and sensitized cells of the bronchoalveolar tree.
Indications
Prevention and treatment of bronchospasm in patients with obstructive bronchitis, bronchial asthma.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to formoterol or other beta-adrenergic agonists, children under 5 years old.
Use during pregnancy and lactation
During pregnancy and lactation, formoterol is used with caution only in cases where the expected therapeutic effect for the mother outweighs the potential risk of side effects for the fetus or baby.
Special instructions
Patients must be trained in the use of the inhaler by a doctor or medical staff.
Patients receiving inhaled corticosteroids in combination with aerosol should not stop treatment with corticosteroids.
Patients with diabetes are shown control of blood glucose concentration.
In patients with severe bronchial asthma, the risk of developing hypokalemia with hypoxia and concomitant therapy is increased, so they need regular monitoring of K + in the blood serum.
The possibility of use in young children depends on the individual ability of the child to use the inhaler correctly (including breathing techniques), used only under the supervision of an adult.
Tremor or anxiety during treatment with beta-adrenostimulants may affect the patient’s ability to drive.
Composition
1 dose contains formoterol fumarate dihydrate 12 mcg.
Dosage and administration of
In case of bronchospasm, a single inhalation of 12 mcg, if necessary, a second inhalation after 1 minute (the next 2 breaths can be taken after at least 30 minutes). The maximum recommended daily dose is 96 mcg (8 breaths). Children over 5 years old - 12 mcg 2 times a day.
Prevention of asthma attacks: 12 mcg (1 breath) 2 times a day, morning and evening in severe cases - 2 breaths, morning and evening.
Prevention of bronchospasm caused by an allergen or physical exertion: 1-2 inspirations of 12 mcg 15 minutes before provocation. Children over 5 years old - 12 mcg. The capsule should be removed from the packaging immediately before inhalation.
